John takes a diligent, inclusive and caring approach to his work, ensuring his patients receive the best possible care and a positive experience. He works closely with surgeons to ensure that patients undergo a high-quality and safe procedure.

John’s sub-specialty interests lie primarily in obstetric and gynaecological anaesthesia; he currently holds a public appointment as a specialist anaesthetist at the Royal Women’s Hospital. John is also highly experienced in a diverse range of surgical specialties including (but not limited to) bariatric, general, maxillofacial, orthopaedic, plastic and vascular surgery.

John completed his medical degree and pre-vocational junior doctor years in sunny Queensland before moving back to Melbourne to complete his specialist training in anaesthesia. He has completed training at various tertiary and quaternary centres including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Women’s Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Austin Hospital. He has completed fellowship in obstetric anaesthesia at the Royal Women’s Hospital and a general fellowship with a focus on vascular and thoracic surgery, at Northern Health.

When John isn’t working, he is the proud father of three young children and enjoys as much travel as he can make time for.
