I am a Specialist Anaesthetist having completed my specialist training and admitted to Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College Of Anaesthetists in 1999. I was also admitted to Fellowship of the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine in 2002 as a Specialist Intensivist.
I grew up is South Africa, did 2 years of Medicine at the University of Witwatersrand, immigrated to Melbourne Australia and completed my last 4 years of medicine at Monash University.
I spent a year in England, working at Westminster Department of Anaesthesia and attained a Diploma of Anaesthesia. After returning to Australia I completed my specialist training in both Anaesthesia and Intensive Care.
My fellowship in Anaesthetics at Monash Medical Centre included 6 month research in pain management.
My practice has involved both public appointments at Monash Medical Centre as a consultant Anaesthetist, Consultant Intensivist and Private Practice. I am an Associate of Anaesthetic Services and a VMO anaesthetist at many of the private hospitals including Cabrini Group, Epworth Group, St Vincent Private Group, Ramsay and Health Care Group and Glen Eira and Glen Iris Day hospitals.
I have also completed a Master degree in Business Administration at Monash University, Melbourne in 1992. Subjects covered Health Administration, Computer Information Systems, Strategic Management, Marketing, Economics, Accounting, etc. I have a wide experience in all areas of Anaesthesia with a particular interest in Urology, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Plastic surgery, Gastrointestinal surgery and endoscopy.
I participate in Journal Club meetings, Morbidity and Mortality meetings and ANZCA, ASA and Overseas Congresses and maintain my continuing Professional Development through the College of Anaesthetists.
While I am not working I enjoy family time with my wife, 3 children and 2 grandchildren. I enjoy cycling, both snow and water skiing and traveling.
