Dr. Arthur Penberthy

About Arthur
Diploma in Anaesthesia (1990) – UK
Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) – 1998
This has provided me with the opportunity to travel and work around the world in Africa, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and finally in Australia. I arrived in Australia in 1995 and completed my training for the fellowship (FANZCA) at Monash Medical Centre. From 1995 until 1999 I undertook research into the mechanism of pain transmission at Monash University. During this time I was also involved in the undergraduate medical teaching programme. In 2000 I commenced private practice in Melbourne.
Most of my work in private practice involves anaesthesia for neurosurgery. I also provide anaesthesia for ENT, maxillofacial, orthopaedic, gynaecological, vascular and general surgery. I feel it is important to maintain a broad interest in the different fields of anaesthesia and to keep in touch with all the latest developments in anaesthesia. To this end I have been participating in the Continuing Professional Development programme of my College since it was started.
